No, never. Brambleton & Co. does extras instead: ask for money off and you get a free bar of The Swaledale in your next order and a polite no.

Van days are Tuesday and Thursday. Order by noon the day before. No next-day delivery, ever.

Which product is best for ovens and commercial kitchens?

The Herdwick, the heavy-duty degreaser. The Masham is for front-of-house surfaces, The Wensleydale for washing up, The Swaledale for hands.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

That is a grumble, covered by the Grumble Promise: a reply within one working day and a fix within three. Replacements sent immediately; do not post the faulty item back, give it to a neighbour.

Wakes Week: the first full week of August every year, the whole company including the van and the dog.

Who handles safety, allergy or press enquiries?

Maureen Bramble, the founder, personally and always. Staff never answer these themselves. This is called the Maureen rule.

Started in a garage, by someone who reads labels

Maureen Bramble was a school science technician who refused to clean the labs with anything she couldn't pronounce. So she mixed her own. The garage became a mixing shed, the mixing shed became a business, and the business became twelve people at the Old Creamery.

Our test for everything we make and everything we write: would it embarrass Maureen at the market? Then cut it.

How we work

We have opinions and we've written them down. These aren't small print, they're the point.

Van days: Tuesday & Thursday

Deliveries go out Tuesdays and Thursdays. Order by noon the day before to make that van. No next-day delivery, ever, and proud of it. Good soap can wait a day.

No discounts. Extras instead.

Ask for money off and you'll get a polite no and a free bar of The Swaledale in your next order. Everyone pays the same fair price, including Maureen's sister.

The Grumble Promise

Complaints are grumbles, and every grumble gets a reply within one working day and a fix within three. Replacements go out immediately.

Don't post it back

If something's faulty we replace it straight away. Give the old one to a neighbour, don't post it back. Prefer a refund? No quibble, three working days.

Wakes Week

We close the first full week of August, every year, all of us. Including the van. Including the dog. Orders placed that week ship on the first van after.

The Maureen rule

Anything involving safety, allergies or the press goes to Maureen Bramble personally, always, within one working day. No exceptions, however friendly the journalist.

What's the minimum trade order?: One crate. We sell to trade by the crate only. Crate sizes: Swaledale 24 bars, Wensleydale 12 bottles, Herdwick 12 bottles, Masham 12 bottles.
Can I get a sample first?: Yes. One free sample of any product for a genuine trade enquiry, posted first class, no van needed.
Which product for ovens and commercial kitchens?: The Herdwick. It's the heavy-duty one. The Masham handles front-of-house surfaces, The Wensleydale does the washing up, The Swaledale is for hands.
Where do you deliver?: We deliver ourselves within 40 miles of Brambleton; beyond that it's a courier. Either way, it's van days: Tuesday and Thursday.
What's in the products?: Plant-based ingredients, all listed on the label. Nothing Maureen can't pronounce.
Payment terms for trade?: 14 days from invoice for established stockists. First orders paid up front. Cards and bank transfer. We never store card details.
